Finding Paragraph #2

Is assisted suicide constitutional? Yes assisted suicide is constitutional by the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment which regulates the flow of narcotics and the personal privacy. As stated from a article from public.findlaw.com “The right to receive assistance in committing suicide is a liberty protected by the Due Process Clause of the 14th Amendment” (Health-Care Law). So by this website, yes assisted suicide is constitutional as protected by the Due Process Clause of the 14th Amendment. But as I said in one of my recent posts, the federal government can stop assisted suicide by putting very strict restraints on it.

Why should assisted sucide not be legalized? Assisted suicide should not be legalized because in states where it is no legal, they are now regretting it being passed. Other states may frown upon their state and not come and visit that state because it can be known as the “killing” state. “Early polls showed strong support, before the general public was educated about the dangers of legalization” (Marilyn Golden). So this shows how with most states at the beginning, there is a lot of support, but by the time the actual passing of the bill, popularities goes down and the support is just not there anymore.
